Since my day job has me working with CAD related material in 2D, I've grown an interest for 3D also. At work, I detail bridges and culverts using Microstation, but during my off hours, I play around a lot with 3D. Here is where I'll be adding links to some great 3D resources I have found.
Microstation
- I feel is probably the best CAD package available, and what I've used for over
10 years professionally. If you're a student, get the educational version
from your college or university, it is very affordable that way.
Strata
3D - download it from free! An unbelievable way to get into 3D
programs. A hefty download, about 25 megs, but well worth it.
Eovia,
home of many 3D applications such as Amapi 3D and Cararra.
3D Exploration from Right Hemisphere is an easy-to-use 3D viewer and
translator with a Windows Explorer like interface. It supports all popular 3D
file formats and common 2D file types. You can also create high quality 3D
renderings for use in any other graphics applications.
NeMo
- give your 3D creations interactive behaviors in your projects and on the
web. Download a demo.
Cult 3D
- a free plugin for your web browser to display high-quality interactive 3D
graphics for Web sites, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
3D
World - everything about 3D, and includes a CD with every issue.
3D
Cup - a 3D graphics portal and 3D-related search engine.
Meta3D
- tutorials, free 3D models, links and more.
3D Cafe
- hundreds of 3D models to choose from.
3DCorum
- models, skins, links.
3D
Model World - lots of great models
