FYI - Eye Candy 4000

From Alien Skin

Wow!  This plugin suite of filters from Alien Skin is something no digital artist should be without.  There are so many filters (23!!), and each has plenty of built-in FX, that you'll be busy exploring FX possibilities for weeks.

Each filter has an assortment of built-in FX, and every one has adjustable parameters.  If you create an effect you like, it can be saved as a Preset.  The presets are saved as individual files you've given a name to, and can be shared with others who have Eye Candy 4000.  The files are very small, typically around 1k, so thousands and thousands can be saved without fear of using up hard drive space.

The filter dialog boxes each have menus that allow you to select another Eye Candy 4000 filter, without having to cancel out and go back to the Photoshop filter menu, and each includes a preview window.  There is also unlimited undos and redos.

Attention to detail has been given great care to create realistic FX in this plugin suite.  For example, when using the Bevel Boss filter and adjusting the direction of light, not only do the bevel edges get highlighted, but so does the 'face' of your image, to simulate as if a light is passing over the raised bevel.  This is great for creating animated images.  With Fire, flames are angled give the effect of creeping up the vertical borders of your image, and Chrome really does look like chrome. Also, many of the filters can create seamless FX for tiling.  Some require a selection area, while others can work with a selection, or without.

This plugin suite is without a doubt very versatile, and packed with a lot of opportunities to get you the image FX you're looking for.

Here is a small collection of FX that Eye Candy 4000 can do.  Keep in mind that the range of FX is limitless, and the FX I've presented here are by no means the only types of FX available.  All FX here were done using Photoshop 6.0.  Scroll to the bottom to see what the basic Eye Candy 4000 dialog box looks like.
