Grand Canyon
Artist's Point

This, for what I saw, is by far the most awesome place in Yellowstone.  Carved over the past eons, the Yellowstone Grand Canyon makes one realize that nature is a whole lot bigger than, and operates on a grander scale, than most people ever realize.  The Lower Falls are 308 feet tall, and when I was there the winter melt was cascading over the edge, and slowly, imperceptivity, carving the Yellowstone Grand Canyon ever deeper.  Artist's Point  is the rock outcropping that tourists use to view the canyon in all it's splendor.

The image below is available as July's Wallpaper of the month.

Anyone who is timid of heights should go anyway, and hold tightly onto the handrail!  It is worth the exhilaration to see this much nature, up close and so expansive, you'd soon forget about any vertigo!

Above is a panorama shot of the east canyon wall.  Lower Falls can be seen on the left.
