Yellowstone Buffalo, Bears, Elk and Birds

No trip to Yellowstone would be complete without a lucky sighting of bears.  They are cautious creatures, but this one happen to be very close to the main road near Upper Falls.  She was with two cubs, although I did not get a chance to photograph them, I did the mother bear.  A bear sighting in Yellowstone can create what is called a Bear Jam, when everyone just has to stop and spot the bear.  I was glad the bear jam happened before tourist season really began!  The reason this is so grainy is that I was using ASA 400 film with a 500mm zoom lens, the bear was dark, the area she was at was heavily shaded, and I had to adjust the heck out of the contrast and brightness in Photoshop just to see what species of bear it was.

The elk were still shedding their winter coats, and there were plenty of elk around.

Young bison could be seen also.  There were quite a few of them all over, along with a lot more bison scattered all over the park.

A yellow headed blackbird show no fear of humans.
